What to look and listen for: Geese flying south in a "V" formation while honking loudly.
Starting in September most Canada Geese fly south for the winter. It is one of our easiest birds to identify. They are very large reaching two or three times the size of the ducks they hang out with! The head and neck are black but the throat and cheeks are white. The back and wings are grayish brown while the underparts are white with gray markings. The legs, bill and tail are black.
