What to watch for: Identify the leaves by their white undersides, then watch for the flowers developing.
The Raspberry, (also known as the Red Raspberry), is commonly found throughout the province on deforested land, rocky ground and along roadsides. It has tall stems, 1-2 m high, with a few small prickles. The serrated leaves are divided into three to five leaflets that are white underneath. The small flowers are greenish white and are arranged in little clusters. The flowers bloom in July and the familiar red fruit appears by August. The berries fall to the ground when ripe and crumble easily when touched. Related Subject - Raspberry Fruiting
