Field Guide

Each watcher receives a field guide describing natural events in Nova Scotia. Things like the Robin returning to Nova Scotia after the winter, the last snowfall, or the wake up call of the Spring Peeper. These events happen in the spring. The field guide also describes natural events that happen in the summer and fall. There are 50 natural events to choose from. You can download the recording forms from this web site when you register. If you are taking part with a class or group, your leader or teacher will give you a copy of the field guide.

Watching

You can watch for as many natural events as you like. Scientists call this making observations. It is a good idea to choose natural events you know to begin with. This way you can be sure that the observations you make are correct. Next year you can add more events to your list as you get to know the natural world around you. Remember you are a Thousand Eyes scientist and the first rule of science is to collect facts.
